NPL Points Table, NRR & Playoffs Explained (2026)

Updated

The live standings are on our NPL 2026 points table. Here is how they work.

Points

A win is worth 2 points, a no-result 1 point and a defeat nothing.

Tie-breakers

Teams level on points are separated by number of wins, then net run rate, then their head-to-head result.

How net run rate (NRR) is calculated

NRR = (runs scored ÷ overs faced) − (runs conceded ÷ overs bowled), across the whole season. A team bowled out is counted as having faced its full quota of overs.

The playoff format

The top four after 28 league matches qualify. Qualifier 1 is 1st v 2nd: the winner goes to the final. The Eliminator is 3rd v 4th: the loser goes out. Qualifier 2 pits the loser of Q1 against the Eliminator winner for the second final place. The Final is on 21 November 2026. Dates are in our schedule guide.

What finishing position is worth

The champion wins Rs 1.5 crore, the runner-up Rs 80 lakh, third Rs 40 lakh and fourth Rs 30 lakh: see NPL 2026 prize money. How each team finished in 2024 and 2025 is in the teams guide.
